Mediterranean Villa in the hills of Santa Monica, Ca— owned by an artist and musician in L.A.

The house had a Mediterranean architectural style and Moorish elements to it, it was heavy and dark, and desperately needed an overhaul to complete its overarching concept. Spaces like the two-story living room and magnificent yet disconnected garden needed to be integrated seamlessly with the rest of the home. The task was to merge disparate styles into one cohesive aesthetic— Minimalist Mediterranean.

The biggest overhaul was switching all of the miles of interior beams and trusses to grayed and reclaimed wood. The furniture chosen was a mix of basic modern and neutral pieces with those that had Spanish colonial patina to them. The absence of embellishment really worked for this slightly Moorish house. This project was completed in collaboration with Windsor Smith Home.
